About us

Silesian Centre for Education and Rehabilitation "Arteria" is a non-governmental organization working for the people with intellectual disabilities, their families and youth at risk of social exclusion.

Our goal is to take an action and create equal opportunities for this group of people through:
• guiding them towards active participation in social life
• supporting their families
• providing support in the use of mainstream social infrastructure and various forms of social life
• satisfying their needs of rehabilitation, education and health
• participating in cultural and recreational activities
• assisting in the integration process with mainstream of social and cultural life and support self-reliant, independent living

Based on five years of experience we offer assistance in creating enabling conditions, for youth and adults as individuals and groups, in the course of ordinary professional life. We provide system support in the form of specialist support, consultancy and training.

The association "Arteria" also works for the integration of youth in Poland and Europe. We work with institutions who deal with disabled people and their integration in the European Union. We also aim to promote the Silesian region.

Admission rules
Admission to a group of participants of the association "Arteria" may apply to a person with a disability certificate (severe and moderate), residing in Katowice. After one month trial period, a person who has passed the verification is accepted among the association’s memebers.

The duties of the members of the Association shall be the payment of membership dues until the 15th of each month and the presence at meetings. The duty of members’  parents (or legal guardians) whose pupils attend the workshop of the Association is also to  excuse absences from class (application or justification may be in writing or by telephone).

  • Current opinion of a psychologist or psychiatrist
  • School leaving certificate
  • List of medications.

How to volunteer
